Why are my dentist's fees different than the amount I am reimbursed by my insurance plan?

Your dentist sets his or her fees based on the treatments performed. These treatments may vary in terms of their nature and duration, which depend on the health condition of your mouth. To set his or her fees, your dentist may choose to base them on the ACDQ’s Fee Guide.

Conversely, the care covered by your insurance plan and the amounts eligible for reimbursement are determined by your insurer and agreed upon with your employer. Hence the risk of disparity. To find out more about your plan’s coverage and conditions, please contact your insurer.
