I am an underprivileged person. How can I receive dental care?
The RAMQ public plan covers dental care for children under 10 years of age and beneficiaries of last-resort financial assistance.
If you are not insured by the public plan, other options are available to you.
The Université de Montréal, McGill University and Université Laval accept patients at their dental clinic, where dentistry students practice under the supervision of their professors. The dental care provided there costs less than at a dental office.
The Faculty of Dentistry of the Université de Montréal is also involved in a social dentistry clinic called Dentaville, located in the Notre-Dame Hospital in Montreal, under the direction of the CIUSSS du Centre-sud-de-lîle-de-Montréal.
The Fondation de l’Ordre des dentistes du Québec also created the Bouche B project to help people experiencing financial hardship.
As for the ACDQ, it supports the Street Youth Dental Clinic in Montrealand many of its members offer free care to youth from the Auberges du cœur in many regions of Quebec.
Finally, in some situations, you may be able to make arrangements to pay installments for your dental care. Ask your dentist.
